Jacqueline Perrett

FENN

A moment with style queen Jac Perrett. We were lucky to spend time with Jac during the design of our Paddington FENN store (by her architect husband Kelvin) and saw first-hand her design talent and style aura.

What is your earliest memory of caring for your skin?

I was around 12 years old and on school holidays whiling away the hours at home and found some home-treatment ideas in one of my mother’s magazines… I lathered my face in honey and avocado, squeezed lemon juice in my hair, and rubbed olive oil into my skin. I loved every moment, and still have a penchant for home-remedies and DIY treatments.

What activity do you do which makes you feel most like yourself?

Dancing (while no-one is watching)… It suits many a mood.

What is the most beautiful word or sound in the world?

The sound of running water in nature, a bubbling creek or raindrops on the leaves. Heavenly!

What is one of the best or most worthwhile investments you’ve ever made?

Holidays of all kinds. The discovery of some place new brings out a sense of adventure which feeds the soul. I always return home feeling inspired and energised.

If you could have a gigantic billboard anywhere with anything on it (getting a message out to the world) what would it say and why?

SMILE”A smile can really shake up your day. The simple act of smiling sends a message to your brain to release cortisol & endorphins which provides an instant mood booster.

Whom do you secretly admire?

So many people…. but particularly my mum.

In the last five years, what new belief, behaviour or habit has most improved your life?

Giving back to myself in the form of weekly pilates, a facial every couple of months, and acupuncture when my body needs it. Not an easy habit to develop, but I feel so much stronger in all aspects of my wellbeing when I commit to taking care of myself.

What time of the day do you feel the most energetic and what do you usually do in those moments?

I finally feel energised around 9pm once everyone else in the house is asleep which is a bit of a disaster. So while I should be going to bed, I end up on the lounge, simultaneously watching television and catching up on work.

When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, or have lost your focus temporarily, what do you do?

I’ve noticed this usually happens when there are loose ends that need tying up, or if my space is cluttered. So, when I’m feeling overwhelmed or putting off a project due to lack of focus, my first port of call is to always clean my space. It’s a very productive way to overcome procrastination!

What is an unusual habit or an absurd thing that you love?

Perfect segue way! I love cleaning – especially the enjoyment that comes from having a clean home or space. I look forward to a spring clean almost as much as I do a holiday!
